  •  Did you see Bill Moyers this week? (8+ / 0-)

His show was about using writing to deal with the aftereffects of war and trauma.  Featured Maxine Hong Kingston and veterans/survivors.

One woman talked about having her husband killed in Vietnam while she was pregnant, and dealing with serious depression for the next 25 years. Writing became her way to finally work through her grief.

Part of my crying this weekend has been about the longterm repercussions of the decision to go to war. For nations and civilizations, of course, but my soul just weeps at the damage this has caused for so many innocent people. And I'm so ashamed that we let it continue.

    •  No, I didn't see that. My life is kind of crazy (4+ / 0-)

right now. Wedding in June for our daughter......

But I agree with you 100%.  For those of us who do remember past wars, it is just so very frightening to think that we are at war once again, and, even worse, a war for no reason, except the oil.  A war engineered by men who never served in a war or in the military (with honor regarding Bush), and so that is the real tragedy, for us and for the world.

January 20, 2008. The end of an error. Thank God!
