  •  We have tear offs at the checkout (8+ / 0-)

Right at the register, you can tear off a coupon for them to scan a donation of $1, $5, or unlimited.  While not as good at it as I should be (meaning not every time I am there), we have tried to make it a habit of tearing one of those off, particularly on those trips where we are buying snacks or an easy dinner, the things that we like but don't necessarily need.

and I feel like the money will go to what is actually needed.  They used to have a program called "change for change".  You could donate any change to the food bank.  It was painless almost everyone at the checkout counter would contribute.

have "two-for-one" sales for regular customers (you have to show a card). My husband and I always load up on duplicate items and give them to our church's food pantry.

YMMV, but in my mind I thinnk that's what this particular marketing gimmick is meant for.
