    your words, not mine. I think you are buying into the rights framework of morality, religion, and faith.

    Edwards faith is much more Jeffersonian in its tolerance than Bushlike in its intolerance.

    And I dont see anyone saying that morality requires faith in a god. In fact Edwards says the opposite.

      if professed faith was that important factor in assessing a candidate, the predicate for the diary and several preceeding comments, then one would expect Bush to be an extremely moral president.  He clearly is not, and for that reason, it matters little to me what a candidate declares in his or her own behalf in that regard.  That was my point from the outset, and I used Bush as an example of the foolishness in judging these candidates with what they themselves say about their faith.

      It applies equally to Democrats.  If you believe that I am buying the Right's framework of morality, you clearly do not understand what I am getting at, for I am arguing the exact opposite.
