  •  Maybe.... (18+ / 0-)

But I think he's going to run.

I've been wrong before, I could be wrong now.  But for now, I believe that he's going to declare when it's good for him to declare.

    •  And he doesn't need (10+ / 0-)

18 mos to build support. He'd barely need 18 DAYS.

Why should be get beat up now? He doesn't need to. He's got plenty of excellent people who would help run his campaign if he asked. He's got plenty of money of his own, and he could raise many millions in a matter of days. He's got name recognition the other candidates would kill for. And most of all, he's been RIGHT.

Gore is a winner, and people LIKE winners.

All he needs to do is announce a couple days before the deadline to get your name on the primary ballot in whatever states he focuses on, and get on the ballot. That's it. There would be so much press he wouldn't need to buy ANY ads at all. It would be all Gore all the time on CNN/MSNBC/FOX and every newspaper in the world.

And what could they say? All the stuff they've said before? Everybody knows that. His electric bill? I'll bet that many people with much smaller houses have electric bills like that - and the networks know it. His books? Yeah, drive up sales for his books. Especially Assault on Reason. That will REALLY help the Rs.

Bring up what he's been doing lately - helping Katrina victims (and not making a big deal of it), working to fight global warming, WINNING an Oscar, other prizes, being RIGHT about Iraq, and definitely, bring up his family - what a great contrast to the majority of Rs.

Anything they would say would only make their candidates look BAD. REALLY bad.

The real question is - does Gore want it? Because it won't be easy, not getting there or being Pres. It really is hard work.

Gore's never been afraid of hard work - but he might not want the stress and frustration, and I can't blame him.

His environmental contributions and his work on Climate Change will forever have an impact and I hope history credits him accordingly.
He did so much to wake up people to Global Warming.

In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican.- H. L. Mencken
