is this not progressive (hat tip to aard)?

$200M for Community health centers (up 10% instead of 0%)
$37M in scholarships to train disadvantaged students for medical professions (reverses 80% cut in Bush budget)
$58M in advanced nursing education (zero-funded by Bush)
$197M in graduate medical education for childrens hospitals (reverses 70% Bush cut)
$57M Maternal and Child Health Block grant (up 8% instead of 0%)
$79M Ryan White AIDS programs (up 4% instead of 1%)
$120M rural health programs (up 12% instead of down 80%)
$586M Centers for Disease Control (up 10% instead of down 4%)
$1028M National Institutes for Health (up 3% instead of down 1%)
$480M Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (reverses 25% Bush cut)
(plus an extra $400M into the contingency fund for this program)
$175M for Head Start (up 3% instead of down 1.5%)
$660M Community Services program grants to states (zero-funded by Bush)
$47M Elderly nutrition grants to states (up 3% instead of down 3%)

And I'll leave it to the owner of the blog to determine it's purpose.

    •  How about this, Sanchez96: (0+ / 0-)

Here's how progressive your fucking Democrats are:

--voted to give a blank check to Bush to continue the war.

      --capitulated on Roberts and Alito

--stood there with their thumbs up their asses while the bankruptcy bill was pushed through

--stood slackjawed, and abetted the gutting of habeas corpus

      --silently enabled torture

--now they're enabling the Christianists with pro-abstinence sex-ed funding

--Next week they'll probably block states from acting against global warming

--And the really great news is they have nineteen more months to either keep polishing Bush's nob by passing his legislation, or by going one better, as they've done today, by writing it and introducing it for him.

You can wake up now, or you can wake up later -- after it's too late.

Ignoring my question, since it disproves your original assertion and bringing up a bunch of rehashed complaints (which also show a fundamental lack of even basic knowledge of our government) proves to me you are incapable of serious conversation, Asskicking Annie (did the rest of the keyboard activists give you that name or did you imagine it up yourself?).

If you are so done with "my fucking" Democrats, you are  more than welcome to continue doing what you have done so far to improve the situation: nothing.

Complaining on a blog is your idea of action.  Others here put their money where their mouth is and actually, you know, do something.  See hekebolos' recent diary.

Or see any of the thousands of activists here who helped get people like Tester, McNerny, Webb, et al elected.  Or who are running for office themselves to improve our nation.

But really, make a decision.  You've threatened to leave the party so many times now it's comical.  Please take your ball and go home or grow up, get to work and make the situation better.

        •  I left the Dems over a year and a half ago (0+ / 0-)

In that time it has become clearer and clearer that they are no different from the Republicans.  I will not be voting for any Democrats in 2008.

One thing you seem not to have noticed is that the three legislators you mentioned above all voted to give Bush a blank check on Iraq.  How does giving Bush a blank check "improve our nation?"  If you are supporting enablers of George Bush, how are YOU improving our nation?

I've been trying for over a year to start a dialogue here about where we go next after people start waking up and pushing away the denial that the Democrats are complicit with the Republicans.  At the end of the day, that effort might, over the long haul, do quite a bit more to advance progressive causes than the work you have done to elect three Democrats who have voted to enable the war's continuance.

Since you asked, I used to do amateur women's boxing, hence the name.  It's also an old nickname from middle school.

I support THEY WORK FOR US. :::::::: I BOYCOTT the NY Times and the Washington Post.
