Great work on keeping us up to date on this important and infuriating issue. But would it be possible for you to put together a somewhat shorter, less impassioned diary that would be intended for the general reader who hasn't heard about this story or knows much about it? It's just that the sarcasm and emphasis comes across as a bit too heavy-handed at times. This blog is at the point where there are so many members and readers, and so many diaries every day, that to get a broader reach, I think that a more conventional narrative form might work better. I think that we all have to start thinking about appealing beyond the several hundred to thousands of core Kossacks when it comes to such issues, in order to get people to take political action to move them along, and I think that a somewhat more "straightforward" diary form--like a standard investigative magazine or newspaper article, with just as much passion and research, just a hair less attitude--might work better towards that end.

Apologies if this is off-base or disrespectful. Just trying to help. Ignore if you disagree. (It's also late and I'm tired, so maybe I'm just full of it and need to go to sleep...)

And once again, great work, and thanks for it.

...OH put into this, I was an editorialist by trade for half my career, so my view should be discounted. I think you are right. This is a perfect piece for a smackdown that does it all with the facts and less of the, as you put it, "attitude." And I think you're also right about needing, perhaps not more pieces of that nature, but a retooling of existing pieces that have the facts already but go a little to heavy on blog-style.

      Many will no doubt disagree.

Whatever the case, OH deserves multiple kudos for this, and for sticking with this story for the long haul.

I appreciate the feedback, and you're absolutely right: This entire saga needs a straight-ahead, concise, well-researched recounting of its unfolding, from the very beginning.

So that's why I'm working on one.  :)

(Actually, as this story has accelerated over the past couple of months, I have, unfortunately, lost some patience and at the same time become somewhat more frantic to get out the diaries - all while my diarying time has been drastically cut back. So I have not often taken the time to include a dispassionate "here's where we are now, and here's how we got here" synopsis, which I probably should include more often. So - point taken, and I agree.)

OH, Could you put together an Executive summary and then links to all the diaries for people who are new to this issue?

As you drill deep into the complexities of this, it's possible - as Kovie mentions- that you could lose readers.
