Obama has the highest crossover numbers in Iowa when republicans are asked if they would consider voting for a Democrat

also there is tons of anecdotal evidence of this - many conservative TV pundits praise Obama (Tucker Carlson being one, Elizabeth Hasselback being another), and  as many DKos diaries have attested, older republican voters seem to like Obama. (Lots of "my mom/dad/aunt/grandpa likes Obama diaries.)

Conservatives like his fresh face and his optimism. Reagan-esque, they call it.

they would vote for a black guy.  Leave them alone in the polling booth and it's a whole other story.

My 83 year old mother likes Obama.  She is a Democrat and reality based.  I think with many of her generation,  talk of healing the partisan divide is quite powerful,  as it fits quite well with a sincere Christianity.

But when I played Gore's "Restoring the Rule of Law" speech she said,  "I haven't heard anyone talk like that!"

I bet there are many people who have never heard Gore talk like that.  I even run into people who know nothing of Daily Kos,  one way or the other.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.
