  •  How is it a good thing for Obama to consult with (5+ / 0-)

a sellout like Powell?  How is Powell part of the "strategic middleground"?  Powell is an immoral sellout who never spoke up when it counted.  He is on the fringes not the middleground.

Richardson wanted to make Jim Baker his Middle East envoy, until he was panned for it.  Now Obama is talking to Powell?  What is next?  Hillary with Rumsfield?  (I know she hasn't)  But the idea that meeting with Powell is a good thing is just nuts.

This does not enhance Obama's credentials.  Powell should not get the time of day from any Democrat.

the standing which Powell still has amongst the public -- far more than Rumsfeld or Baker. Look, this isn't a question about whether Powell has anything worthwhile to say (although his comments on Gitmo are nice to see). It's a question about politics.

with the key players in that fiasco if he is to be President.  This diary assumes he was looking for advice.  I sincerely doubt it.  Obama does what any expert does - he amasses information first and then makes up his own mind.  He's already met with Clark.  And...how do you know your boy, John, isn't doing the same thing?

        •  If you call Edwards "your boy" one more time, (0+ / 0-)

I will start TR it.   If someone called Obama "your boy", I would TR it also, and you would be screaming.  It is a slur.  Do not use it again.

Edwards has a distinguished Military Advisory Group
Lieutenant General Michael A. Hough, U.S. Marine Corps (ret.)
General Paul J. Kern, U.S. Army (ret.)
General Lester "Les" Lyles, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
General Gregory S. "Speedy" Martin, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
Rear Admiral William J. McDaniel, U.S. Navy (ret.)
Rear Admiral David Oliver, U.S. Navy (ret.)

          Powell is not there.

I can't believe Democrats are legitimizing Powell.

and nothing more than a smear. It's a joke.  What Obama did is common practice and wise.  Stop masquerading as someone who cares.  Have you read Gore's book yet?  If not, you should.

And I'll bet you two to one that Gore, if he runs, will consult with Colin Powell as well.
