    and liberties to worship as they choose and have their scriptures and services available.

    As much as many here hate religion, it does serve as a  helpful force for some, just as meditation calms some. It certainly turned Malcolm X around when he was in prison. It's wrong to take that away from people, and I'm sure that the ACLU will be working to restore this fundamental right.

    This looks like another step in building the gulag where individual liberties are eliminated. If we think beyond our personal beliefs, we can see the bigger ugly picture here.

      And we just went over a passage by Malcolm X included in the English textbook.  In the passage, Malcom X calls the white man "the devil."  We probed into Malcolm's historic moment - when and where he was born, what happened during his childhood, (he believed his father was murdered by an off-shoot of the Klan)and why, given his history, such a statement might be more than hyperbole.

      I will never think of Malcom X as being "turned around in prison", but as growing intellectually through his own self-education and the Nation of Islam.  Given his childhood, when public lynchings were still drawing crowds of cheering whites, I see his life as a straight trajectory only seasoned by what he learned.
