    . . . cuz I'm a biologist and I think it's awesome.

I'm a little puzzled by the idea of King Kong with better RuBisCo, though. Would he have had to be green? (I'm a zoologist, not a botanist.)

I enjoyed your diary very much, NNadir.

The only thing Republicans do well is take our tax dollars and transfer them to the rich, instead of providing the services we thought we were paying for.

      Kong was green.

He was definitely Green.   He lost out to Winona Duke by a hair - a gorilla hair - in the 2000 race to be Ralph Nader's running mate.

This was not specifically covered in the films, but it for many years a biodigester on the corner of 23rd Street and Broadway was fueled by King Kong's poop which was available in multimetric ton quantities for several decades.

You will note also that while climbing the Empire State he frequently waved his hands.   This action was misconstrued by many as an attempt at violence against the biplanes.   Nothing can be further from the truth.   Kong was trying to demonstrate the power of wind currents at the 86th floor observatory on the Empire State.   He was a big proponent of installing wind mills there.

Try to remember too that the film was in black and white.   It is therefore merely an assumption that Kong had no chloroplasts.   As it happens, he did have chloroplasts and was in fact an internationally recognized expert on the carbonation of ribulose phosphates mostly because he was a practioner of this same technology.

This is not widely known, but Kong went to graduate school with Melvin Calvin at the University of Minnesota.   There is some evidence that most of Calvin's ideas about his famous cycle were, in fact, ripped off from Kong.

. . . but I really am laughing out loud. Are you going to YK? - I'd love to meet you. And fwiw (that one doesn't bother me for some reason), I don't hate the idea of generating electricity with nuclear power.
