  •  Great quote, Jesselyn (17+ / 0-)

Bush's administration, described by John Dean as Worse Than Watergate, also is guilty of Worse Than Treason.  The issue raised here is very important, but poorly understand by many Americans, and I'm glad, Jess, you are writing about it.

On a related matter, senate bill, S.274., which would protect federal government whistleblowers from retaliation, is being blocked from getting to the floor for a vote. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) put a hold on the legislation and unless it is lifted, that would kill S.274 and with it, H.R. 985, the companion House Bill.

Coburn's actions are consistent with Bush's threat to veto the bill.  But, his hold almost certainly is supported by many other members of Congress. They know that, as long as Coburn's hold stands, the bill will never come to a vote and, therefore, they can say whatever they want. Since we have no way to determine whether any particular Senator is being truthful about supporting the bill, we must hold the entire bunch accountable and demand that they use their considerable power and influence to get Coburn to do right by Americans.

If we are ever to get to the real bottom of problems like Katrina and 9/11, and many never yet revealed, this bill must be passed.  I urge everyone out there will call, write, fax and email their senators.
