  •  But Is This The Precursor Of A Brand New War? (5+ / 0-)

The War on Mixing Humor and Cannabis

I have no doubt there is some nutty right-wing state legislator somewhere thinking about drafting legislation to outlaw humor applied to cannabis.  It's for the kids.  Our children.  The very future of American and the American way of life.  If you are not in favor of banning humor with cannabis then you MUST be against the kids.

The so-called PATRIOT Act is part of the war on the Constitution.  This free-speech decision is quite understandable in the context of a court that is hostile to the Bill of Rights.

bike messenger who got in trouble with the Reagan Administration's Justice Department because of the message on his t-shirt.  It read: Experts Agree.  Meese is a Pig.

This is nothing new for this crowd.

for that bike messenger that Gitmo was only a naval base during the Reagan years.

Why is is that the tough, macho, law-n-order, give-the-Pentagon-a-blank-check Wingnuts are the ones with the thinnest skin in this country?

effect. Bike messengers' t-shirts used to be great fun to watch wizzing by in this town especially knowing that like Chris Stalvey any one of them could come across whatever person or entity they were protesting as they went about their job of delivering packages at various agencies in DC.  Now bike messengers aren't allowed to wear t-shirts with "controversial" content on them.  It is a drag really.  These Republic people really are piss-ant sissies.  They sure can give it out, but when it comes to taking it they are a bunch of whiny ninnies ever single time.

and my then 16 year old was amused by the cannibis plants being sold openly (and legally) in the flower markets.  She wanted to bring one home.  Mr. litigatormom and I had to patiently explain to her that U.S. Customs would not find our attempt to bring it home ironic, or a form of political speech.  Then she suggested cannibis seeds, sold in little packets just like Burpee seeds.  Same problem.

We finally let her buy a t-shirt that said "Coffee Shop" with a graphic of a cannibis plant underneath.  (So-called "Coffee Shops" in Amsterdam also sell marijuana cigarettes.)

P.S. I am told that the cannibis plants sold in the flower markets yield very poor marijuana because the Dutch climate is not optimal for growing.  So the plants apparently are sold for souvenirs -- they can go from one country in the European Union to another without going through a Customs check.
