    and my then 16 year old was amused by the cannibis plants being sold openly (and legally) in the flower markets.  She wanted to bring one home.  Mr. litigatormom and I had to patiently explain to her that U.S. Customs would not find our attempt to bring it home ironic, or a form of political speech.  Then she suggested cannibis seeds, sold in little packets just like Burpee seeds.  Same problem.

    We finally let her buy a t-shirt that said "Coffee Shop" with a graphic of a cannibis plant underneath.  (So-called "Coffee Shops" in Amsterdam also sell marijuana cigarettes.)

    P.S. I am told that the cannibis plants sold in the flower markets yield very poor marijuana because the Dutch climate is not optimal for growing.  So the plants apparently are sold for souvenirs -- they can go from one country in the European Union to another without going through a Customs check.
