  •  You can fix the Medicare coverage problem (5+ / 0-)

That can be easily fixed by legislation mandating coverage. Physician reimbursement levels can be set fairly too. That is something you can do for all of us.

I don't like cost shifting any more than you do, but you can do something about it. Don't attack Medicare for its problems. Fix Medicare's problems and expand coverage to all.

I know physicians feel very uneasy about single payer, but the present health care system is not sustainable. We cannot afford all the middlemen and bureaucrats. Money needs to be spend on care, not on insurance company claims rejectors.

    •  Exactly,...it's the middlemen and the bureaucrats (2+ / 0-)

that have made healthcare in the US so expensive and unaffordable.

      Eliminate both and you get:

      1. Simplicity
      1. Equitable healthcare without cost shifting
      1. universal coverage
      1. huge savings in US healthcare costs:

Instead of 16% of GNP we can got down to 8% of GNP,.....far more in line what other industrialized nations are paying for far better coverage, and far better quality.

Edwards puts healthcare reform on the table in a very credible way and is tough enough to make HR 676,....the ultimate goal, achievable.
