    a crying shame is what it is!! I was replying to the power of prayer snark further up the thread.  I was born in 1951, and was treated by some of the first penicillin to become available to the public. And I grew up overseas, and saw first hand the sort of medical care available to the majority of the people on the planet, including third world countries. You think health care is bad here, try India..the US will look like paradise by comparison, not only in the availability but the quality of the care. I don't think health care should be something that people have to pay for out of pocket, I think the governments of the world should get together and pool resources, technology, etc. and provide good free health care to everyone on the planet. But I am an idealist..left over hippie and all that..and I am willing to settle for decent health care for everyone here in the US. It's a compromise, but also a start in the right direction.
