    •  If Job is a good illustration (0+ / 0-)

of how the God of the Bible treats those who love Him, and given the examples of what has happened to "His Chosen People" that we know from history are true, it seems to me to be verrryyy dangerous to love Him, or to be "Chosen" by Him.  And now, many among those in the Religious Right would have us believe that the Anglo-Saxon whites of the USA are "His NEW Chosen People!"   Given what TGDSOBGWB and his "God loving adminstration" have done to this country and how much he says he loves God, the RR may be right!

YUCK. I have watched those idiots since the early 80s.

If you want a really telling bit, look up the tale of Jeptha's daughter.  J. makes a rash vow to offer the first living thing he sees when he comes home after God gives him victory.  FIrst thing happens to be his daughter.  God does not intervene.

The one that stumps most right-wing Christians is  pointing out that if God is all-knowing and decides ahead of time who is elected for heaven, but makes all those he declines to select anyway--hopw is he not a Divine Sadist?

I left Catholicism over sexuality and women's roles.  I left Christianity over issues like Jeptha's daughter and the whole notion of election (eliminates all Calvinist faiths, and the other Protestant flavors don't ahve any space for the Feminine Divine as Catholicism does with Mary).
