    when he was tossed. Certainly our troops and veterans did. We have AAR, and Olbermann, and blogs like dKos, but none of those reach the kind of audience Imus reached 5 days a week. The closest would be Big Ed, I guess, for reaching that audience and he has a long way to go before he reaches Imus' stature (if that's the right word to use).

    He is indeed, as you say, deeply flawed. But he brought issues to the forefront that we on the left care about deeply and in a way that could not be easily ignored. I think it was a mistake to silence him, and I have a strong, nasty suspicion that certain folks in high places helped to do that once he gave them the opening they needed. I think the hue and cry of the left played right into their hands on that one.
