    Two comments:

    1. Pitch stealing is something that's bound to happen no matter what you do. Some editor may say, "No thanks." and then assign his junior reporter to it. Nothing you can do about it in the status quo.
    1. The site would have the added benefit, though, of having user feedback on it. If, for example, you, GreyHawk, pitched to In These Times, and they stole your story, you could immediate make that known on the list, so that if ITT comes up in a search, people can see that they've stolen in the past.
