have introduced a bill that will call for an amendment tot he state constitution defining life as beginning at conception, thus outlawing abortion and hormonal borth control (including Plan B) and the IUD at one fell swoop.

There are demos planned for Saturday in Augusta, Savannah and Atlanta. I can't go, but I WILL be diarying on this tomorrow.

And  you are right-- the only religiosu groups, other than the Vatican (and many American Catholics don't agree) that want abortion and birth control banned are the right-wing Christians.  They support the anti-chocie movement through its lobbyign groups and aid and abet its criminals who are cold-blooded murderers.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

    •  Not just "many" American Catholics, Irishwitch (5+ / 0-)
Polls and studies have snown that as many as 90-plus% of Catholics use or have used methods of birth control other than rhythm. This extreme opinion is a tiny minority. And it's also disgraceful that they can introduce a bill to make an abstract religious/philosophical BELIEF a law.  Jews, for instance, believe that human life with a soul begins at birth. That doesn't necessarily mean all Jews are pro-choice but it does mean that you are enacting a law that invalidates someone else's religion, by definition unconstitutional (though probably not with this right-wing Catohlic Supreme Court, which overlooks the Constitution when it's not coveniently agreeing with their prejudices).
