  •  In India medical care is still affordable... (0+ / 0-)

or so I read, but this is probably for the emerging middle class and the wealthiest.

The Thais have free, excellent health care (I visited a beautiful facility with my Thai sister-in-law--it made me envious). My brother holds up his Australian insurance card to represent the one reason he isn't back home in the U.S.A.

I remember that medical costs were reasonable until the Reagan error, oops, I meant "era."

The high cost of medical training? Private universities became more like corporations than hallowed halls of academia. Doctors didn't use to graduate with huge student loans. My great uncles who were country doctors certainly did not.

    For-profit hospitals?

    High-tech equipment?

    For-profit insurance companies?

Lack of preventive care (it costs insurance companies more to do so)
