  •  The last time I went to an ER. . . (0+ / 0-)

. . . I was on a business trip to Pawtucket, RI, and I started having complications from the miscarriage I'd had a couple of weeks earlier.

If I'd been at home, I most likely could have gotten in to see my doctor (or another at his clinic) inside of 2 hours, though it's possibly they might have chosen to send me to a hospital. In the end the treatment I needed was fairly minor.

As it was, I had to wait 7 hours, during which time they did occasionally check to make sure I wasn't losing too much blood, or passing out. And I marvelled at the patience of the poor guy sitting across the hall from me with a nail stuck in his eye from a construction-site accident. He had to wait at least 2 hours, and then I think they had to send him somewhere else, because they couldn't get anyone in who was qualified to deal with it.

So, yeah - the ER is no place to be, if you can possibly help it.

What would Gandhi do? "The cause of liberty becomes a mockery if the price to be paid is the wholesale destruction of those who are to enjoy liberty."
