  •  Antonio Damasio has promoted emotions for decades (0+ / 0-)

He is perhaps the best-known and most influential brain scientist in the world.  Check out his book, Descartes Error: Emotion, Reason, and the Human Brain, written in 1994 to get an idea of how well known the importance of emotions is for reasoning.

I am glad to see more people taking the stance that the cognitive sciences are important to politics.  George Lakoff has been a lone voice for far too long.

The truth is that cognitive scientists have known a lot about how the brain works for decades.  It takes people like Weston and Lakoff to get important findings out of academic journals and into public discourse.
