is their loathing different?  How do you measure loathing, or obsession?  And if it's a matter of psychological degree, is the focus really the gender, or the individuals' reasoning behind the gender issue?

I'm not saying either is sick or depraved or any such twaddle, just that thoughts and emotions are extremely slippery things to quantify.

I'll admit this isn't a topic I've read much on, beyond having it covered in a couple of nursing courses.

I simply still disagree that anyone can say his loathing is worse than her loathing.

The anorexics and bulemics seem as willing if not moreso to self destruct over their loathing.

It's subjective to the individual, and I don't think it can be quantified, much like religious belief.

Certainly that's not a helpful response, but I'm not certain reading that Dr so and so found that 25% of transsexuals flinched to this amount of measurable nature upon viewing a picture of their past self, while only 21% of anorexics did is useful either.

The more people that know anything, the better.
The pain and suffering is depressing, but if you never write, you never change anyone.  If anything, I write to express my cynicism and sense of futility with the corporate world I see myself engulfed in.
