They talk about Pelosi's scarves, and Hillary's hairstyles, but they also talk(ed) about Edward's hair, Paul Simon's bowtie, Abe Lincoln's beard, etc. Some people dress in a particular or unusual way, and others notice this. Where's the sexism?

I've never heard of anyone talking about Paul Simon's "see-through come-hither bowtie that makes him look like he's just asking for it."  His bowtie, and Lincoln's beard were both noticed without ascribing sexual connotations to their choice of dress and grooming.

The folks criticizing Edwards's hair were specifically trying to emasculate him; they also referred to him as a "Breck Girl".  You don't find that sexist?

tucker's boetie. He was mocked about it unmercifully and now he no longer wears it.
