If the Republicans are so sure that this continuing military intervention in Iraq is crucial, then why aren't the Democrats making them demonstrate it, or stop it?

How to Demonstrate the Importance of Staying in Iraq:

    1. Pay for the war with a Patriot Tax NOW.
    1. Recruit Young Republicans into the military. College can wait. If the Republicans believe the war is the fight of our nation's life, then they must fight NOW.
    1. Investigate and prosecute profiteers. Make them give the money back a.s.a.p. Ditto exposing any conflicts of interest among decision makers who may profit personally from their support of the war.
    1. Change. If a bi-partisan effort to raise the money and the troop levels that professionals say are required to control Iraq, then the Republicans must agree to a totally different strategy.

If I were as convinced of their "stay-the-course" rhetoric as the Republicans are, I would be advocating a re-invasion of Iraq, and establishment of a Viceroy.

But, until the Republicans adequately pay for and staff the effort with their own best and brightest, I don't get it.

      1.  The Republicans would rather fund perpetual war through cuts in social spending.  Security State Dems agree.
      1.  Other priorities.  Besides, a Bush dying for Bushco kinda misses the point.  Family before business.
      1.  This, again, would sort of nullify the whole point.  Don't worry.  Dems will pretend otherwise too.  They're good at it.
      1.  Totally different as in practically identical?
