  •  I'd say that reading two diaries in our rollout (8+ / 0-)

the one by atdnext about Miller's scandals and the one by dday on the lay of the land, offer the best answer to the first question.  If the DCCC didn't think he was vulnerable, I don't think they'd be spending money to target him.

As for traction from the existing ads, I think that those are just web videos so far.  You can expect something more potent before the election.

I manage, but except where indicated do not speak for,

    •  Keep up the great work! (4+ / 0-)

I look forward to having a race close to home to get pumped about. I may be in San Diego but that is a stones throw from OC and the stench of Miller reaches all the way to north county SD. That ain't smog that rolls in from time to time.

I look forward to the victory party in '08.

(I'm sure no one here will really mind), but I will say this at a minimum:

        (1) they are providing us non-trivial support services that cost them time and money and will be highly valuable to us.

        (2) greater demonstrated viability means greater support, from multiple sources.

        That seems fair.

...something like call time surrogates (big names to sit next to the candidate while calling donors) and member calls (having current members of Congress call some of their donors on Ron's behalf, or just giving Ron their names and an endorsement sometime in the near future).  My experience last cycle was that DCCC tried to avoid offering anything like specific dollar amounts anywhere near this early (which was a good thing, since it was the 2nd and 3rd wave "Red to Blue" candidates, and not the first wave candidates, who fared best, I think since their race dynamics had time to become clearer).

But of course, I wasn't there and don't know.  This is just speculation on my part.  (And if the surrogate talk wasn't today, it'll be soon enough.)
