    It's the same with the massive Korean community in Los Angeles. The church is EVERYTHING - chamber of commerce, matchmaker, community center, counseling service, you name it.

    Most people think faith-based initiatives are a new thing from the W regime. In Koreatown, it's been reality for ages - unless you're a fundamentalist Christian, you can forget about going to rehab or community kitchens or homeless shelters.

    The two Koreas are not exactly LGBT friendly for starters. The level of homophobia in Koreatown USA is extreme.

    And other Confucian-influenced Asian-American cultures (i.e. Chinese) are soaking up Korean-style extremist Christianity. I am losing my ground in Asian-American communities every day.
