    It's a "winning is everything" world, where the victor can expect millions and millions in endorsements.  As long as the spoils are so rich, the doping will continue.

    It's not enough to merely be the best anymore.

    Sad.

      where the spoke to folks along the route today. One uy who traveled from Bordeaux said something like, "It is all about the race. Not how fast you go. But 'The Race'." AN Australian who rode some of the climb to find a view spot said they should just open it up - memebers of his club dope.

      Crazy - people are fucking with their bodies to gain sponsorship to get free or cheap gear when they are not even pro's.

      Well, what do you think about the stakes for national elections? Do you think people will try to 'rig' elections, too?

      (My question is intended to convey more than a little irony. If you read it that way, then you read it correctly. ;) )

      I think about the stakes in sports compared to the stakes in our most important national elections. If there is a way to cheat, some will find that way and some will use it.
