Didn't have college degrees in either theology or psychology. And there were/are a whole lot of these agencies.

This was the first faux agency I had encountered and I did a lot of research to find out just who these jerks were.

Yes there are fine Christian mental health workers -- and one of my sources was a minister with a PhD. in Psychology. He was aware of the faux "counseling" groups springing up -- and they were taking advantage of the community based mental health fad. There were making the real hard working Christian mental health works look very bad.

During RayGun's time as Governor the mental health hospitals were closed and the hospital's population was supposed to be shifted to the communities.

Washington followed with laws about involuntary commitment, which migrated to community based mental health -- which migrated to former mental patients sleeping in allies. Suddenly there were these fly by night counseling services -- which were "faith based" -- so many of the code words in the Dominionist series was/is used by the hacks who send away for their minister's license and then they open up a store front "counseling" service.

Now we are almost at a point where mental health is criminalized -- need medication?? Get arrested.

At the time few people could understand why I was so disgusted with the faux agencies. In fact I really should have been even MORE upset, disgusted. But at the time the whole GOP in WA state was riddled with Dominionists and other right wing religious idiots.

with a straight face, that the religions nuts were thrown out of the party back in 88.

Most still do not know the extent they have been taken over.

      •  Yep -- that's the truth (0+ / 0-)

However, when you hear the GOP leaders talk -- you hear the "code words".

A few years back at one of the GOP conventions (2004 platform for GOP party) they voted to do away with Indian Reservations. The idiots didn't even know that the Reservations were created via treaties and as such have a sovereignty. Individual states cannot simply eliminate Reservations.

Before the party platform went to the next phase this idiot plank was removed.

On a rural grass roots level -- most have no idea that the wing nuts are in charge. Ellen Craswell is a prime example of the nuts taking over the party.
