Was there ever any real dirt on Cummins?

And I thought he was cooperating with his own ouster, wittingly or no, so why would Rove's office even be looking for dirt?

It seems that the worst thing they could find on Bud Cummins was that someone probably complained at some point in time that he was 'lazy' or that Sarah Taylor used a minor, isolated complaint to describe him as lazy.

My hunch is that Sandra Cherry probably had enormous respect for Cummins, but that at some point in time she might have felt overwhelmed by her work load - she might have communicated to her daughter that Cummins wasn't working as hard as she was working or something. (Please note that this is ALL conjecture on my part)  Anyway, I think the information - whatever the specifics were, was interpreted by Teary Taylor to mean that Cummins was "lazy".  That's how she described him in an email to "the aggragator" - Kyle Sampson.  Taylor might have been reaching for a perjorative term to give Sampson a rationale to push Cummins out - to clear the path for Tim Griffen's ascendency.

Salon asked Cummins to comment on the email and Taylor's testimony:

"I appreciate her stated intention to not inflict further injury, but the fact is, my professional reputation has already been slandered," Cummins said in an e-mail after reading the transcript. "All that remains is to find out who it was that was slandering it. If she was repeating something she heard, she should say who it was that said it, unless perhaps it was President Bush, which I sincerely doubt. It would be quite helpful to me really if she would divulge the identity of that person. I would like to know, because it is my belief that none of the people in a position to know whether or not I was lazy felt that way. I doubt the information is privileged."
