    these lies were kind of "anti-libel".  Monstanto's product was presumably falsely described as harmless.  Only the public was ill-served.

    Perhaps legal but deeply ironic is that First Amendment is used to justify corporate censorship of individuals (here -- the reporters).  Not only the individual rights are atributed to corporations, but individuals are effectively stripped of them.  Contemporary jurisprudence is based on the assumption that Founding Fathers were idiots who badly need correction.  Corporations are endowed by their creator (i.e. the state) with certain inalienable rights, and individual can look for their Creator for help --- and as long as God is silent, they can keep looking.
