Fox News has, of course, been extremely successful (financially and in terms of the size of its viewing audience)in peddling its version of the "news" as an alternative to the (previously) established (and liberal??) mainstream network media outlets (ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN). There is every reason to believe that the WSJ news division will be transformed, probably gradually, into the print version of FOX news. And, I add, there is every reason to expect that it (the WSJ, Murdock incarnation) will be even more successful than Fox News has been on the television front. Among other factors promising greater success is that there are fewer competitors on the national newspaper front (really only the NYT and Washington Post), and those competitors are less financially robust than were and are the TV competitors of Fox news.

    •  Don't forget about Fox Business Channel (0+ / 0-)

The Business voice of the even more Right Wing then CNBC.

Business execs are a funny breed -- many of them are conservative, but expect the unvarnished truth.  Many of them know that getting bad information is often worse than not getting any information at all, and they won't put up with having their favorite newspaper turn into the kind of all-out propaganda conduit FNC has become.

I'm sure there will be changes, and most of them will be made over time.  But he risks destroying the paper if he changes it too much...
