    I saw a telling comment from Robert Novack.  He was on one of the cable networks, promoting his latest book.  In response to a question about the liberal slant of the media, he said something to the effect that journalism was not a "serious" profession.
    He went on that covervatives did not generally consider going into journalism, they were more likely to become stockbrokers or engineers. And I think there is at least some truth in that. Actually I do agree that the punditocracy that he represents are not very "serious", but I think that most would agree that journalism in the sense of investigating and reporting the news is very serious, and extremely important to maintaining our republic. Even though, a large number of those currently reporting (particularly in tv) are not very serious.
