then the fucking Washington Post is misleading its readers.

There is nothing in the article to suggest that this has anything, not anything, to do with actual domestic communications.

They very explicitly suggest that this is entirely about foreign communications.

This is the legal interpretation of the problem:

"For months, the Bush administration has been shopping its proposed FISA changes around Congress.  Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, has been heavily involved in the lobbying for gutting FISA. Late last night, Senators Christopher Bond (R-MO) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) introduced legislation that is very similar to the administration’s proposal.  The senators’ bill would permit the wiretapping of Americans without warrants and without judicial review.  Its proposed changes are sweeping.  As long as the National Security Agency targets someone overseas, whether that person is sending or receiving information via the phone or email, the communications of Americans on the other end will be caught up in the surveillance dragnet."

The "Washington Post", you and I, know nothing about the program. As you know, most of it is "secret" so we cannot really judge or understand what has been done up until this moment, and we will never know.

A link would be terrific, but I believe you.

When I first saw this story I got enraged as hell, but I've seen too much ado about nothing in the tubes to take anything (even from Meteor Blades) at face value.

So, yeah.  Thanks, again.  You've given me something to work with and I appreciate it.
