"Al Qaeda is not going on vacation this month," said Sen. Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. "And we can't either until we know we've done our duty to the American people."

Well, Senator, you have not done your duty to the American people, by any measure.  Oh, you managed to pass one hightly questionable measure in the Senate, thinking that was your duty.

But since you, Senator, value duty so very highly, and there are countless other measures that are critical to the American people, not yet even debated, much less acted upon... does than mean you and the rest of your colleagues will remain in session through August, rather than take your 'normal' recess?

P.S.  There is a 'war' on, and GWB and members of Congress are ready to criticize Maliki and Iraqis for a summer break.  But the US is also in this quarmire, loosing troops, equipment, and money on a daily basis.  Could that be a case of the 'pot calling the kettle black'?  Or are those things just not important enough to you to prevent the good 'ole home state/district gladhanding, backdoor deals, and garnering support for the next election?

Life is not a 'dress rehearsal'!
