    Let me put it another way.  

    If you see an entire division of 300 workers and every single one of them is on a H-1B Visa, from one region only in India, one caste,  all male, all between the ages of 26-31, is that diversity?

    If you go to a construction site and see nothing but young Hispanic males, ages 17-26, all illegal, when there are construction unions, is that diversity?

    When you see zero women technical leaders in an entire company, yet women have 5% of the top tier engineering qualifications from U.S. universities, is that diversity?

    If you see an entire corporation with no a single person having one gray hair on their head, is that diversity?

    When you see that disabled people get 4% of all Bachelors degrees in the United States yet only 1% of them are actually employed, is that diversity?

    We need to look at the statistics versus the rhetoric I think.

      Been a long day in the salt mines yah know?  This issue was very important to my old employers -- I was tasked with running the numbers from the self reported data and it was sad.  The program was literally blind, the applicants didn't get interviewed in person and ethnicity, birthplace, birthdate and gender was hidden from the experts reading the applications.  But still given the pathetic numbers of minority and native born graduates, the numbers were always small.

      I think modern job hunting the auto HR filtering causes LESS diversity in the workplace.  That's sad.

        We have ads that literally say "H-1B Visa holders only need apply" and blatant discrimination by claiming "oh so and so isn't technical enough"...when often they have more skills and education in their pinkie than the interviewer.

        Yes, I am and everyone is our group is extremely committed to the original ideals of diversity and equal opportunity in the United States.  Before these global labor issues came along it was bad and now it's gone into the toilet!
