  •  The only explanation that makes sense (17+ / 0-)

    is that there are democrats involved in this too, and that somehow, Waxman and others fear doing damage to our chances for taking back the White House and Congress.  They might be able to rationalize that it is worth suppressing this, because having democrats in power is better than having republicans in power.  I can see some logic in that, but refusing to hold people accountable, while calling for accountability, isn't right.  Criticizing republican witnesses for dishonestly using "I don't recall" as a way of avoiding answers, and then doing it yourself, isn't right either (assuming that he does recall, and is obfuscating).  Here's where principle and pragmatism clash violently.

    All I can say is, I expected better of Waxman.  I don't know what's going on here, but my benefit of the doubt quotient for Waxman just dropped considerably.
