    I learned about it via a Google search, before it was talked about extensively on this site.  I mentioned it in a comment thread one night and wouldn't you know, Congressman Brad Miller rec'd the comment or replied (I forget which) and he mentioned that they had been reading up on Congressional powers and that inherent contempt was indeed one of their options.  This was months and months ago.

    Inherent contempt, though some call it arcane, is a pretty extreme measure.  I imagine it's meant to be used in extreme circumstances (kinda like the ones we're facing now).  As you know, it involves calling for the Sergeant at Arms to take the person into custody and put them in a jail in the Capitol.  The stories about its use have to be infamous in the halls of Congress.  So even though some call it arcane, I find it hard to believe that it's not well known.
