    Remember: In 1996 Republican Mike Foster run a statewide race (for governor) as someone totally unknown outside the La. House district he was representing. He won after a well financed TV campaign depicting him hunting camouflage and a rifle. That's all it took.

      He also got the weakest major opponent in the field (Fields). Landrieu/Foster would have been a different story.

      Also, Foster got an endorsement from David Duke, that he didn't renounce, because he bought Duke's mailing list.
