  •  The first post I did on this (7+ / 0-)

    Is here.

Here's one where I point out the underlying tension behind the March 10 legislative meetings: this was the first briefing they had had (and the first for the full Gang of 8) since Congress had passed an amendment making any kind of large scale data mining illegal. In other words, the big issue on March 10 was that they were asking Congress to make something legal that Congress had made illegal nine months earlier.

GIven that background, I'm not surprised that they asked Tom DeLay for a second opinion on the legislative feasibility of getting Congress to reverse itself.

Your analysis is much more thoughtful than mine.

Still, there are important questions.  I don't think they really expected congress to pass legislation in one day before the reauthorization was to be blocked, so the timing is still important given what we know about what happened with Comey.

explanation from both her first comment and second comment for Tom DeLay's solo meeting as well, since that is the question in your diary.

Or just blockqote both comments in their entirety and add them.

        Just a suggestion.....

          •  I was just going to post again and apologize for (0+ / 0-)

sounding so pushy when I saw you'd responded.

So, anyway - I really am sorry about the tone of my post. And thanks for the update!

I screwed this up by not discussing emptywheel's analysis with original posting, so absolutely deserve criticism.
I almost certainly had seen her analysis in the past, and should have remembered and cited it.

I hope the updates help, and I can just keep trying to be a better blogger in the future....
