    It is a buzzword, and in this case it is a rather inartful use of the word.

    If the intent is to differentiate between left leaning and right leaning organizations, I present to you Kos Media LLC. Oh no, corporate owned! Throw in NPR (which I know some people here don't like), Air America (I am almost certain), and reputable publications such as the New Yorker, and many others.

    If the distinction is between New and Old, it fails again (see Kos Media).

    If instead you want to use corporate sponsored (as some do) you can keep all of those listed above, and throw in The Nation, Harpers, and almost any other publication I can think of.

    Honestly, I know people like to pretend that corporations are inherantly evil, but hell, even my parents' local neighborhood store (not evil) is incorporated.
