A 2 bedroom apartment in NJ can easily run $1600.00 (that might include association fees).  That's $19,200.
That leaves you with what?  $32,000?  Oh, and then there are federal taxes, social security taxes.  If you own a home, property taxes here are the highest in the nation.  A 3 Bedroom townhouse like mine carries with it a $6500.00/year property tax.  And it is expected to go up by double digits this year because we're getting socked with pension payments.
Then there's auto insurance: highest in the nation.
    Food- everything is expensive here.
But the most disgusting part of this whole "screw you, little Jersey girls and boys" is that this state sends more money to Washington DC and Bush's crony war profiteers that we will EVER get back for our schools, infrastructure and, yes, health insurance.  If we're supposed to spend our money so much better than government, you'd have to wonder why NJ has to send so much of it to DC.
I happen to know one of the children who is going to be directly impacted by this.  His mother is an unmarried 20 year old who is working full time at a company that has benefits that she can't possibly afford, paying child care and living on and off at home because rents here are so fucking crazy.
Bush better run because there are going to be a lot of very, VERY angry grandparents in NJ, CA, NY, MA and many other blue states he has been slowly screwing over the past 6.5 years.
