  •  Battle of the Bean Field (4+ / 0-)

Police attacked and vandalised new age traveller's (hippys) caravans and vans way back in 1985.
I remember the edited and biased BBC TV coverage of the incident, you saw on the footage 'police' with no badges or ID numbers on their uniforms, it was speculated that those anon police were either Army or private security goons.
They smashed up peoples caravan homes early int he morning, and terrorised everybody including the children sleeping.
Total fucking outrage, and a sign of things to come.

The Battle of the Beanfield was an incident on June 1, 1985 when Wiltshire Police prevented a vehicle convoy of several hundred new age travellers known as the Peace Convoy from setting up the fourteenth Stonehenge free festival in Wiltshire, England. It became notorious for the police brutality reported to have taken place.
