  •  I hope others are also prepared to prod me (11+ / 0-)

    as I attempt to prod, invite, encourage, to think beyond wherever they are.

    My AP students in particular, many of whom are downright brilliant (taking college government in 10th grade) have an adjustment process to do when they encounter me -  I insist they think more deeply, ask questions of "why" and seek to explore the implications of statements they read or they themselves make.

    I guess that is as much the core as is anything of how I approach teaching.

      ... to raise my 3 daughters to think about why they do what they do and the consequences that arise from their actions

      Our current government is incapable of intelligent reflective action that anticipates consequences.
