      "democratic" can refer to the context and environment for discussion, that is, the degree to which people feel comfortable and respected (expected) in disagreeing with the proprietor.  Democracy isn't simply a quality in terms of decisions and action but also of climate.

      If we self-monitor by saying "its his site" (a true fact) then we are helping to make it less democratic and accepting the corporate mindset that the owner has all the rights and is the only one who matters.
