    ...is a rather uncomplicated one:

    Vitter=Rove was still working.

    Craig=Rove has (for all intents & purposes) quit.

    With Vitter, Rove was still engaged enough to release the memo telling the wingnut sheep how to deal with the Vitter situation.

    With Craig, Rove is probably not even going to his office anymore until his "official" departure date arrives.

    If you'll notice,  Craig (as was the case with Vitter) is not being "defended" by the wingnuts so as to score political points & put party over country (the Rovian mainstays).

    They are really lost with Rove out; infinitesimal glimpses of humanity and sound reasoning are beginning to emerge as a result.

    The slogan "support the troops" is both the cause of, and solution to, all of Washington D.C.'s problems.

      people give Rove credit for everything.

      The GOP is smart in throwing him to the wolves when 55% of Idahoans say he should resign.  That doesn't mean they also don't feel safe in doing so due to the presence of a Republican governor.

        Though I may be wrong, I don't think the typically uninformed, anti-intellectual, Fox Noise-bound Republican is  analyzing the Craig fiasco in terms of advantageous political positioning.

        As is common knowledge, they wait for the people higher up on the wingnut food chain  to do that type of analysis for them (e.g., BillO, Rove, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc). Then, out of a sense of "patriotism," & liberal hatred, they agree with them.

        Like I said above, I believe they are treating Craig differently because they have not been told by their Masters' how to properly spin the incident (at least not yet).

        So left to their own devises, their unfiltered instinct is to show him little or no mercy.

          that comment I agree with.  I guess it's just using Rove to symbolize the "Masters" (which isn't an incorrect symbol) just brings up the image of the all-Powerful Rove directing everything.  And that is giving his way to much credit.

          And honestly, McCain and Coleman (more likely their staff or someone they listen to) probably did see those numbers from yesterday (or the day before or whenever) about Idahoans wanting him out.  That's the only reason why they're calling for his resignation.  They're both in tough races, and I think that much of what they say lately is with that in mind.

        Rove is putting his hand on Louisiana politics..The goal is a republican government...Vitter is the "star" repub.here..Also, Jindal running for governor is "a saint" for them...Rove played a part in state treasurer John Kennedy changing to repub.party recently...Someone is needed to run against Mary Landrieu..Rove is still doing his tricks.....
