I think that it is more than time that we got a viable THIRD party so that we can move this beyond choice A or B and part and parcel of the party platform ought to include getting the financial incentive of buying power out of the system.

    •  how do we get a "viable" third party? (3+ / 0-)

the only way I can see is if current politicians break with their own parties...Feingold, Dean, other Dems, some Republicans, perhaps celebs (like Franken or Rob Reiner) so that it's a real movement rather than an independent bid a la Perot.

I doubt the politicians would have enough nerve.

Somewhere that the Dems and Reps all suck to the voters.

and not a third party. I'd love to see a group of people dedicated to gaining control of the government through nationwide elections. One at a time will take forever...but if that's the best we can do that's at least better than what we've got.

After the first election, call your self a party and share resources.

Have two elections, grow by attraction rather than promotion and you are more likely to get the 'right' people.

    •  Perhaps some here can form a "committee" (1+ / 0-)

which recommends genuine Democrats.  The committee can morph into a political party when it starts collecting money and fielding candidates.  The only real "problem" is that this will take a lot of time - and some leadership.  But the endorsements have a quick payoff.
