  •  Perhaps just the opposite (15+ / 0-)

Secure people don't entirely feel the need to beat their chests and proclaim their toughness all the time.

General Clark doesn't need to wear his uniform everywhere he goes, but W had to wear a flight suit and pull a dumb stunt to make up for this time in the Senators' sons Regiment during the 60's.

Chickenhawks are the loudest hawks of all, usually to hide the fact that they won't actually do anything.

... cowards.  I know a few.  I actually saw one be a coward.  99% blowhard, balls-first, in your face;  1% coward.  Always a blowhard when there is no risk involved, no chance of taking a fist to the jaw or otherwise getting your ass (and your balls, heh) handed to you.  And then, when push does come to shove, when actual bravery is required -- pffffffffffft!  On their heels, under their desks, sprinting for the shadow of Momma's wet teat.

My experience is broad, but not great.  Every testosterone-fueled rant-specialist I know -- every cheerleader chanting "Stab 'em harder, stab 'em deeper" is at heart a coward, unable to rely even on themselves in a moment of danger.

        1. Attend a local meeting of College Republicans.
        1. Ask everyone you meet why he/she is not fighting their president's war in Iraq.
