Clark is not your father's pimpmobile.

His attempts to stop genocide in Rwanda and Bosnia and (successfully) Kosovo made him a lot of enemies in the military establishment and ultimately cost him his career. I first came across his name not in the context of this war but in Samantha Power's "A Problem from Hell" and I was struck at the time by the irony that one of the few twentieth century heroes with regard to the aforementioned hellish problem of genocide was... a US army general.

On the other hand, he has since before Bush was POTUS stressed publicly that "war means you have lost" because diplomacy is the true means by which civilized parties conduct business. So when he pushed for war, even to stop genocide, it was only because all other options had been exhausted.

This guy was the real deal and when people say how the current crop of contenders for POTUS is the strongest ever, I have to shake my head and wonder how they can think that Obama and HRC are any match for Dean and Clark. The new Edwards is definitely better than the old - I'll give you that.
