  •  What a shock. They set Petraeus up to be the (6+ / 0-)

second coming of Moses, and the Democrats didn't buy it for some strange reason.

The religious fanatics didn't buy the republican party because it was virtuous, they bought it because it was for sale

    •  I wish more Dems would come out and (3+ / 0-)

challenge the holy man mythology of Petraeus.

What did it for me was when I realized how Petraeus was hitting every media venue except Olbermann.

It was sickening how Petraeus whored himself and his uniform across the MSM for Bush.

A YouTube collage of Petraeus' media blitz would be nice.

Good catch--at least I hadn't thought of it.

But it has struck me how gullible this public and press are, when this administration has already proved being a military man with a stellar record doesn't immunize said military man from politicking and deadly politicking at that.  After Powell, why should we jerk-knee trust someone in uniform anymore than the rest of the thugs?

          Petraeus.

I have only heard beltway pundits, who "think" that the public "should" buy Petraeus.

I think the Bush TV speech killed whatever Petraeus bounce there might have been.

          •  I do hope you're right about the public, but (0+ / 0-)

the pundits have scarily bought him hook line and sinker, and in my jaundiced view, an unfortunate majority of the public looks for the MSM to tell them what to think.

            •  yes, the pundits have bought Petraeus, (1+ / 0-)

because the pundits think that the public will also buy Petraeus. The very day that Petraeus appeared, Chris Matthews asked Joe Klein if the public will buy it (Petraeus), and Joe Klein said yes, as if Joe Klein was some magical instant discerner of public opinion.
